
The Dutch Y-Drill

Exercise description:
Area: Set up as shown. The players line up in a letter Y formation. All players at the start have a ball. 6 players are shown
1. Passing sequence 1 – A to B, B opens up and receives the ball on the back foot, B passes into space for C. C dribbles through the gate and back to the start. (or C can take a touch and pass through the gate to another player.)
2. Passing sequence 2 – A to B, B plays a give and go with player D.
3. Passing sequence 3 – A to B. B lays the ball back to A, A to D, D plays a give and go with B. Player rotation – Player moves to next space.

Allo the players to incorporate their own passing combinations.
Possible Performance Problems:
Realistic ball movement. Especially on the give-and-go's.
Body shape and controlling the ball with the wrong foot.
