Exercise description:

Set up in a 20x20. The coach has all the soccer balls. Four mini-goals are placed as shown.

1. The coach passes the ball to the attacker.

2. This triggers the defender from the right to sprint around the yellow pole and into the playing area.

3. A 1v1 is played.

4. Can the player score before the defender can stop it?

5. If the defender wins the ball, they can score in the mini-goals that are placed at an angle by the attackers.

6. When the exercise is over, the attacker moves to the defending end and the attacker moves to the open spot at the attacking end.

Coaching points:

Speed of the attack

Defender is ready to compete

Can the attacker change direction?

Can the defender get there and force the play away from the goals?

Intended outcome:

  • Have fun while teaching the shooting technique.

  • Improve the quality.

  • Get the players to understand the position of the keeper and have a purpose in your shot.

  • Do not shoot down the middle of the goal.

  • Shooting in realistic situations with a moving ball

  • Players are in a competitive environment.

Variations: Straighten the angled goals facing the opposite goals. The coach calls GO! A player from each team runs around the pole and plays a 1v1. The coach serves the ball.

Possible Performance Problems:

Make sure you place the defenders in a position where they have a chance of getting to the attacker.
