Technical Shooting
Border.png

Exercise description:

Area: Set up three stations about 20 yards from goal. Two yellow defenders are at station one. All players have a soccer ball. A goalkeeper is in the goal.

1. Yellow player starts the exercise. They dribble to the goal and shoot.
2. Once the shot is taken, the yellow turns and plays a 1v1 against the middle blue player.

3. Once the 1v1 is over, both those players stay on the field and the final blue player comes onto the field and teams up with the other blue player to play a 2v1 against yellow. Once this is over, a new three are ready to go.
Variation: Add mini-goals for the defending player to transition and score in if they regain possession

Coaching points: Technique of the shot. Look at the positioning of the GK. In the 1v1, slow the defender down and then explode. 2v1 – entice the defender before finding a teammate. Angles of support.

Intended outcome:

  • Have fun while teaching the shooting technique.

  • Improve the quality.

  • Get the players to understand the position of the keeper and have a purpose in your shot.

  • Do not shoot down the middle of the goal.

  • Shooting in realistic situations with a moving ball

  • Players are in a competitive environment.

Variations:

The middle player could be a give-and-go with the yellow player

Possible Performance Problems:
